so, this doesn't acually have a title yet cuz I can't come up with anything, but I'm working on it. I'd ask for suggestions, but I'm not far enough for you to get where I'm going enough to come up with a title yet. If anyone does get an idea, tell me, please. Anyway, here it is:
“No! I won’t do it! I refuse!” a girl stood in a chilly stone castle corridor, shouting at a man loud enough for the entire fiefdom to hear.
“It will bring honor to our family. This alliance will secure our family’s future for many generations,” the man spoke gently to the girl, which to the casual observer looked out of place for this tall man with dark hair and scraggly beard and a sharp-looking face.
“Father! Please, no! I beg you!” she threw herself down at the man’s feet, her long dark hair touched the ground and dust marred her simple but pretty seafoam-colored dress, tears ran down her face.
“I promised our good lord his son would have a match, I cannot go back on my word,” he attempted to reason calmly with his distraught daughter.
“No! Please! I can’t do it-I don’t know why-I just can’t! Please, don’t make me, please...” her voice broke down into sobs.
The man stared at his daughter a few moments, then sighed. “It’s alright, dear,” he said. “You don’t have to marry him.”
She looked up, her tears stopped. “I don’t?” she asked, unbelieving.
“No, my girl, you don’t,” he smiled at her.
“Oh, thank you Father, thank you!” her tears had returned, but this time they were tears of relief and joy.
“It’s alright, Alianne. Now get up off the floor,” he said gently.
She stood up shakily. “What about your promise? I’m so sorry,” she said regretfully.
“It’s okay,” he said, hugging her. “I think I have a solution.” He glanced over at an adjoining corridor where a slightly younger looking girl with pale blond hair and a white-embroidered white dress hid partially behind the wall, watching. Seeing her father glance in her direction, she slipped away, blushing slightly.
