Ok guys. Here it is. The thread you all want but haven't bothered to make. The DH discussion. w00t.
Let me start off the conversation by saying this(feel free to completely ignore it and start your own tangent):
The Epilouge sucked. Seriously. It's all fluff that doesn't tell you really anything. Plus I kinda really wanted Harry dead at the end of the book. Do you know how much fanfiction there is out there about Harry Potter in the future? How many bad roleplays going on? How much more fanfiction is being written as we speak? Seriously, why couldn't Jo end it and kill Harry. But no--he lives, AND has 3 children...
ok, I'm done, that was I bit longer than I expected, sorry...

Why Hedwig? Why? I'm upset about Snape and Bella...*tear*. SHE KILLED TWO OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS DAMMIT!!1! Not to mention she broke up the dream team of Fred and George Weasly-whom I love too. And TONKS AND LUPIN. OMG. I cried. Not even kidding. Seriously Jo killed every single one of my favorite characters. Except George. It was George that was alive, wasn't it?(I'm too lazy to check right now).

OMG!! i agree w brinae, i hated the ending. i really wanted harry to die!! without him dieing it just leaves it at a sort of cliffhanger. and harrys child...albus severus potter...no one else can ever own up to dumbledore!!! i just cant imagine anyone else being called that!! and do we even kno wat harrys profession is...? i think the only part i liked about the epilouge was that ron said he was famous....

Yeah, I know, that's what people were saying at camp. It really doesn't tell you anything. Hermione and Ron are married, Harry and Ginny are married. We get the names of the kids. But that's it. We don't know what any of them have done with their lives. Where are they living? Nothing. And who the hell names their kid Scorpius? That poor child Draco. He'll be picked on to no end.

jk rowling said in a few interviews. harry is an auror, i think ron is too, and i think hermoine works in some other part of the ministry. they have changed the ministry though, so its not corrupted anymore and its "a good place to be"(jkr). its nice to know, but i dont think it was necessary for that to be mentioned in the epilouge. and i dont see how it was a cliffhanger- she said that harrys life was quiet and all was well.
so there. thbpp.

exactly. It said all's going great, therefore, we now want and expect something to happen.
in other news, check this:
sturm und drang
Columbia Encyclopedia: (shtrm nt dräng) (KEY) or Storm and Stress, movement in German literature that flourished from c.1770 to c.1784. It takes its name from a play by F. M. von Klinger, Wirrwarr; oder, Sturm und Drang (1776). The ideas of Rousseau were a major stimulus of the movement, but it evolved more immediately from the influence of Herder, Lessing, and others. With Sturm und Drang, German authors became cultural leaders of Europe, writing literature that was revolutionary in its stress on subjectivity and on the unease of man in contemporary society. The movement was distinguished also by the intensity with which it developed the theme of youthful genius in rebellion against accepted standards, by its enthusiasm for nature, and by its rejection of the rules of 18th-century neoclassical style. The great figure of the movement was Goethe, who wrote its first major drama, Götz von Berlichingen (1773), and its most sensational and representative novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther (1774). Other writers of importance were Klopstock, J. M. R. Lenz, and Friedrich Müller. The last major figure was Schiller, whose Die Räuber and other early plays were also a prelude to romanticism. WordWeb online: A state of violent disturbance and disorder (as in politics or social conditions generally) m-w.com: 1 : a late 18th century German literary movement characterized by works containing rousing action and high emotionalism that often deal with the individual's revolt against society 2 : TURMOIL
now check this: sturm und drang sturm und drang durm und strang Durmstrang
That's my little Harry Potter discovery of the month, maybe year-I'll let you know.

Yes, the epilogue did suck... i was expecting more. YOu know, i thought we'd get to see what happens to all the characters, including Luna and the rest of the Weasley's and stuff. Good news: there's going to be an HP encyclopedia with a lot more discriptions of characters and such.
ON an unrelated note: Did anyone begin to hate Dumbledore for a while. I mean, it seemed like he was leaving Harry to die. (no i didn't want him dead, though i thought he would) I was just so pissed at him. I mean, for a while, all that came out from the book were bad things about him.

I was surprized, but I didn't hate Dumbledore. It was kinda shocking though...

I wish haryy would have died. It would have been way more interesting. But, harry being half-dead then coming alive again and faking dead was awesome. they all could have died.
b.t.w. I sorta missed you guys while I was at camp for two weeks....if you wanna know how the sorta works ask me in person.

I didn't hate the epilogue. Yea, I was expecting more, but still, I thought it was okay. (though, my first impression was it sounded something like a fan fic.)
I was a little mad at dumbles, but not for long. Especially when he explained himself. I loved how she took all the unanswered questions about him that we hadn't even thought of. like how he broke his nose. I didn't think of that one.

What about Lupin? Why does he get no love? He was one of my favorite teachers, besides McGonnagal.

I'm glad that harry didn't die. I don't think she focused enough on lupin and tonk's deaths. They are two of the series most beloved characters (of those that hadn't died already) and all they get is a quick mention that they did indeed die. Fred's death was only slightly better

Lupin and Tonks. OMG that was horrible. I cried. not kidding. And for Bella and Snape. Those were the only times I cried.
btw, hate to say it but-I told you so! quote from mugglenet: "Warner Brothers acknowledged that movie ticket sales for Phoenix actually fell because fans were too busy reading. What a novel idea!"
I was right! Releasing the movie at the same time as the book was a bad idea commercially.

yes, yes it was, cause the books >>>>>>>>>>>>> the movies.
Tonks and Lupin got gypted. (can't spell) Fred at least got a scene where he died, though it was kind of short felt for the reader. All Lupin and Tonks got were a mention of their names and were put near fred.

thats an easy answer. He will be sent to one of his relatives house and then some years past by and then he is invited to hogworts and then the dark lord comes back and then he would need to go into the chamber of secrets his second year and he would be in the tri-wizerds tournament and history will repeat its self yet again.

no he's going to be sent to live with harry (ang ginny*squeal*) 'cause harry is his godfather. in general, you are sent to you godparents house when you parents aren't there.
and maybe you didn't catch it, but teddy also ends up with Victoriare (I think that's fleur and Bill's daughter. It sounds french enough and she's about the right age. )

hehe, Jo better be careful so she avoids her characters marrying their own relatives...everyone's so close-knit.
