Anyway, here it is:
Such a boring day, English, geometry, Spanish, nothing ever happens here in the city of Leven. Its always the same thing, day in, day out, thought Kayl. His blue eyes were half closed as he was thinking. Kayl scratched his brown hair and rubbed his nose absentmindedly. Today was an early release, like every Tuesday. The students of Leven High School had a half hour off, and the students who had to wait for the bus had to wait for the buses to come. Everyone sat at green tables, which was the official school color. Students were chatting with their friends, and Kayl's girlfriend, Lilane sat reading a newspaper next to him.
Lilane had permed brown hair and she was wearing a t-shirt and jeans, holding a Leven High Orchestra sweatshirt by her side. She was chatting to Terra from across the table. Terra had straight, blond hair and bright eyes. Whenever someone poked her in the stomach, she squealed and punched whoever did it. She was wearing a black tank top and a pair of blue jeans.
"Hey, Kayl, have you read this?” asked Terra. “Something happened in Rayround.” Kayl looked at the paper and saw the headline, "Mysterious Happenings in Rayround."
"What the?" asked Kayl quizzically. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"Here, read it," said Lilane, and passed the paper to Kayl. It said that there were a group murder in Rayround city, which was the biggest city that was near Leven. The descriptions were nasty, and the scenes were very bloody. Officers in Rayround also found a note at one of the crime scenes; it was written in blood. A cult of satanic worshipers was responsible. Not much was known about the cult, but investigators were on the case.
As Kayl finished, he sat, lost in thought. Rayround city was not far from Leven, only about sixty miles. while he was thinking, Lilane gasped in horror. Alena looked over from her conversation with Melaina and Bretta to see what was wrong with her friend. She looked quizzically at Lilane, her grayish-green eyes flashing concern. She was wearing a white t-shirt with colored squares on it and jeans. Melaina had straight black hair. She wore a black sweatshirt and blue jeans. Bretta was stout and had brown hair. She wore glasses. She had a black and white stripped shirt with a black zipper sweatshirt opened over it.
"What's wrong, Lilane?" she asked.
"No-nothing," stuttered Lilane, "nothing important."
"You sure, you can tell me."
"Yes, I'm fine."
"Okay..." she snapped her head back to the conversation she was having, and accidentally hit Kole in the face with her short, brown pony tail. "Sorry Kole," she giggled.
"Thanks a lot!" he remarked sarcastically. He then jumped into the conversation with her, Serefina and Bretta. Kole was Terra's boyfriend, and one of Kyle's good friends. He had extremely bushy, brown hair and greenish-gray eyes.
"Why didn't you tell her, she'll find out anyway" Kayl asked Lilane.
"I don't know. I guess I just didn't feel like troubling her."
"Whatever, she'll find out anyway on the news, won't she?" asked Kayl.
Lilane got up and walked over to Terra and whispered something in her ear. Terra looked gloomy after that.
"What was that about?" asked kayl when Lilane walked back over and sat down.
"Nothing," she responded monotonously.
"How many were dead again?"
"Five," answered Terra.
"Hey! What are you reading?" asked Tanara. Her question came so suddenly that all three of them jumped. Tanara was another of Kayl, Lilane, and Terra's friends. She was wearing a black tank top with an open Leven zipper sweatshirt over it. She also wore blue jeans and tennis shoes.
"Um," stated Kayl, but before he could finish, Tanara grabbed the paper out of Lilane's hand. She stared it over, her hazel eyes darting over the paper. Aurora was looking over Tanara’s shoulder. Aurora was tall and skinny, with long, brown hair that she usually tied into a pony tail. She wore a t-shirt and jeans. Syke was another friend. He was beside Tanara scanning over the paper. He had curly blonde hair and a loud voice. He was wearing a green sweater and jeans. Aiyana, a girl with wavy brown hair came over to read the article, too. She was wearing a t-shirt with an emblem from her favorite book on it.
"Demons? What the hell?" questioned Aurora. She scanned the paper and looked interested. "What the fricken' hell?"
"I don't know," responded Kayl.
Aithne and Ryoko walked over next, wondering what everyone was crowding around for. Aithne was short and wore glasses. She really liked the color black, and she wore it often; black jeans, t-shirt, and a sweatshirt. Ryoko was adopted from Korea. She had brown eyes and black hair that went down to her shoulders. She was a bit short, and her temper was the same. She was obsessed with anything from Japan. Almost everyone like some form of manga or anime, but she was on another level. She was a "fangirl." She was into J-rock, and talked about it all the time.
"What's goin' on?" asked Ryoko. Instead of letting their friends rip the paper from their hands again, Lilane handed the paper to Ryoko and Aithne. The two read the article. Aithne's glasses almost fell off in disbelief, but Ryoko just shrugged her shoulders and passed it off as nothing. "Big deal," she said.
Aithne scanned the paper and furrowed her brown, "Hey isn't that..."
"Shh!" Lilane whispered. "Yes, it is, don't let her know."
"What? Shouldn't she know. I mean, its her..."
"Okay, what's really going on?" Alena asked as she walked over.
"It's noth..." started Terra, who looked into Alena's eyes and knew she couldn't lie. She gave the paper to Alena. Alena read it over and when she got to the obituaries, tears welled up in her eyes.
“What’s with her?” questioned Kayl.
“One of the people who were found dead was her cousin," replied Aithne. “They were really close.”
“Yeah, that’s why I didn’t want her to know about it, but she had to come and read it. That’s not good, she’s gonna be depressed for the next month,” Lilane explained.
Alena was sobbing now, and everyone except Kole, Serefina, and Bretta, who had no idea what was going on. They came over and Kayl handed them the article to read. They did and also tried to consol Alena. Terra looked helplessly to Tanara, but nothing anyone said could comfort her. Everyone crowded around Alena and were trying to make her feel better when the final bell rung. In the commotion, no one heard it, and no one really cared. After about ten minutes of useless chattering, a teacher came over and warned the kids that the buses were leaving. Everyone rushed to gather their things, but by the time they left, the buses were long gone. Alena was crying on Aithne’s shoulder now.
“Damn, now what are we gonna do?” swore Aurora. Now we have to walk home in all the snow. This is the only time I hate snow. And I have a ski race tonight, I hope I’m not late.”
“Great,” remarked Kole sarcastically. “Now we have to walk home. This sucks.”
“Hey, are you sure you’re okay?” asked Aithne as Alena got off her shoulder.
“Yeah,” replied Alena timidly. “Let’s go.”
The next day brought no new news, nor for the next week. Then, on the Tuesday of the next week, another mass murder was reported. “Kayl, read this!” whispered Syke during study hall. Kayl read the article.
More Murders in Rayround
The murderers strike again. Another group of murders have occurred in Rayround, a few miles northwest in a suburb of the city. The bodies were all found together. There were two times as many victims as last time. Authorities blame the same cult that had committed the first murders. More information has been released about the group. Apparently they are a cult of men who worship demons. They call themselves the “Demons of Destruction” and kill anyone who they capture. They say they offer their souls to Satan. The murders are usually the result of heavy torture, seduction and/or rape. The group isn’t very well know, but the first sightings were in Rayround. The sheriff of Rayround County has issued a warning to the citizens of the city and surrounding areas. He also wis...
“Hey, what are you reading?” whispered Crispin. Crispin was one of a pair of identical twin brothers. He had short, black hair and wore glasses. He had blue eyes and red cheeks.
“The day you were gone, Lilane and I were reading a newspaper, and there were a bunch of murders in Rayround. They were very violent and Alena’s cousin died. She was in tears for at least ten minutes. The suspects are a cult of people who believe in sacrifices and things like that,” explained Kayl.
“Oh,” Crispin was at a loss for words. He looked a bit disturbed by the thought and asked, “Can I read that?”
Sure, Kayl said as he passed the paper to him.
“Hey! Quit talking you two, or it will be detention!.” called the study hall teacher.
“Sorry,” apologized Crispin right as the final bell rang. “See you in the cafeteria today after school, Crispin said to Kayl and Syke as he walked out the door.
Today was another early release. In fact, every Tuesday was a half-hour early release, so everyone met in the cafeteria after school before the buses came. When Kayl walked in, he found everyone sitting at a different table than their normal one. It was in the southeastern corner of the room, instead of the one on the center west one they usually sat at. A t.v. was hanging above them on the wall. Everyone was talking intently to one another. Kayl walked over and hugged Lilane. “Why’s everyone watching the news?” asked Kayl.
“There’s been another attack.” Lilane answered right when the channel began showing commercials.
“I know, it was in the paper this morning.”
“No, there was another one,” interjected Aithne. “This time it happened in broad daylight. About ten people saw what happened and fifteen were killed. It happened in a city only ten miles from the city limits, in Kecume. The witnesses said that people dressed in costumes of scarlet monsters went and slaughtered people on a busy street. There was blood everywhere.” Aithne looked at the floor, a troubled look on her countenance.
Lilane rested her head on Kayl’s shoulder. “Where’s Alena?” he asked.
“She’s at the funeral yesterday, today, and tomorrow,” Lilane replied.
“Oh,” he sighed depressingly.
Crispin and his twin brother Arron walked into the cafeteria. There was virtually no way of telling the two apart when Arron from Crispin when they both wore their glasses. Usually Arron wore contacts. Crispin was slightly shorter than Arron, but only just. Arron’s face wasn’t as red as his brother’s either. Otherwise, they were the same. “Why are we over here?” asked Arron.
“There’s been another attack,” answered Terra.
“Attack?” he asked unknowingly.
“You don’t know?” asked Terra. “Oh wait, you and Crispin weren’t here last week. You were on vacation until yesterday, weren’t you?”
“Yep," responded Arron.
“Then here, read this.” Lilane passed over a newspaper with the article in it about the attacks to him. She handed a photocopied page of the article to Crispin as well.
Kayl tuned out the conversation as the commercials faded and the news channel’s theme began to play. Another attack? Though Kayl. And now its much closer to home. What happens if they come here? Will someone die? Kayl kept his thoughts to himself, as not to worry anyone, though most everyone was probably thinking about it.
“And we’re back,” said the female newscaster. For those just joining us, we have been covering a big story all day. So far, thirty people have been killed by a demonic cult. Most of the murders were ghastly and disturbing. There have been numerous rapes and many were tortured. We have been keeping up, but it seems we need to report the weather,” the newswoman sighed as if thinking that the weather was nothing important compared to what was really going on. Kayl agreed with her.
An announcement through the P.A. system announced the arrival of the buses and everyone packed up. As Kayl was moving through the crowd to the bus, a girl came walking toward him. It was Azura, a girl Kayl met earlier this year.
“Kayl, hey, Kayl!” she yelled. He looked toward her.
“Oh, hey Azura. What’s up?” he inquired.
“Nothing, I just didn’t get a chance to get down to the cafeteria,” she stated as her face flashed apologetically. “I had an orchestra lesson,” her breath was visible as she talked. She was playing with her brown hair while she talked. She was a bit short, which Kayl often teased her about. She was stout, but had a cute face. She was wearing her brown coat. “Did you hear about the murders? Tanara said Alena’s cousin died. I feel really bad for her.”
“Yeah, that’s all we talked about in the cafeteria. Alena cried all day. Another attack happened in Kecume.
“That’s really close to here, are you worried?”
“A bit, but there’s really nothing we can do.”
“That’s true. Oh crap! The buses are about to leave. Bye, I’ll see you tomorrow,” she called as she rushed to her bus.
“Bye!” he called back. Kayl began to run to his bus, but tripped and fell in a snow drift. Some of the students in the other buses laughed at him as he got on the bus. He shrugged it off as nothing and sat down, covered in snow. He got his mp3 player out of his pocket and listened to it on his way home.
